What we do

Physical Therapy Services, Delivered to Your Door

Every service below happens in your home across Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls, Hayden and Rathdrum. Same one-on-one outpatient care you would get in a clinic, minus the clinic.

In-Home Physical Therapy

Licensed physical therapy that comes to your house. You get a full one-on-one session with one of the same two clinicians, in the rooms where you actually live and move.

Neurological Physical Therapy

Physical therapy for movement changes caused by neurological conditions, delivered at home. Work on walking, balance, transfers, and daily function with the same two clinicians every time.

Learn more

Fall Prevention & Balance

Balance training and home safety assessment in the place where falls actually happen. Your therapist evaluates your steadiness and your house, then works on both.

Learn more

Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

Outpatient physical therapy after joint replacement, repair, or fracture surgery, delivered at your home in Kootenai County and built around your surgeon's protocol.

Learn more

Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy

Treatment for back, neck, shoulder, hip, and knee problems that have not required surgery, combining hands-on care with a home program you can keep up with.

Learn more

Functional Dry Needling

A muscle-focused technique using thin, sterile, single-use needles, offered as part of a physical therapy plan when your therapist determines it is appropriate.

Learn more

Mobility Training

Practical training for the movements your day depends on: standing up, turning, stairs, and walking, practiced in your own home with the same two clinicians each visit.

Learn more

Assistive Device Training

Hands-on training with canes, walkers, rollators, crutches and wheelchairs, taught in the rooms and doorways where you actually use them. A licensed therapist comes to you.

Learn more

Caregiver & Family Training

Hands-on coaching for spouses, adult children and hired caregivers: safe transfers, guarding, protecting your own back, and how to help without taking over.

Learn more

Therapeutic Cupping

A hands-on soft tissue technique using suction cups over muscle, used as one part of a broader physical therapy plan alongside movement and exercise.

Getting started is simple

There is no complicated intake process and nothing to figure out on your own.

  1. 1

    Reach out

Call us or book online. If you have a referral from your doctor, send it over. If you do not have one, direct access may still be an option depending on your plan.

  2. 2

    We call to schedule

We will find an appointment time that works with your week and send you a link to the patient portal so the paperwork is handled before we arrive.

  3. 3

    We come to you

Your therapist arrives at your door, evaluates what is going on in your actual living space, and you get started that same visit.

Common questions about our services

If your question is not here, call us. We would rather answer it than have you guess.

What is the difference between home health and in-home outpatient physical therapy?
Home health is typically a Medicare benefit for patients who are considered homebound, and it is coordinated by an agency across nurses, aides and therapists on the agency's schedule. Therapy in Motion provides outpatient physical therapy in your home. You do not need to be homebound to be seen, and you work one-on-one with the same two clinicians throughout your plan of care.
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
A physician referral is helpful and always welcome, but it is not always required. Direct access is available in Idaho, though your specific insurance plan may have its own rules about referrals and authorization. Call us and we can help you sort out what your plan needs.
Which services can actually be done in a home setting?
All of them. Your therapist brings what the session requires, and much of the work is more useful at home anyway, because it happens on your real stairs, in your real bathroom and with the chair you actually get out of every morning. If something falls outside what we can appropriately provide at home, we will tell you and help you find the right setting.
How long is a typical visit?
Visits are scheduled as full one-on-one appointments rather than shared floor time, so your therapist is with you for the whole session. The exact length and how often you are seen depend on your evaluation, your goals and your plan of care.
Do you accept insurance for these services?
We work with a number of plans including Idaho Blue Cross, Idaho Blue Shield, Idaho Medicaid, Idaho Medicare Part B, Mountain Health CO-OP, PacificSource, Tricare West Region and Regence. Coverage and benefits vary by plan and by service, so contact us or your carrier to verify your specific benefits before your first visit.
