Our story

Outpatient Physical Therapy, Brought to Your Door

Therapy in Motion was founded in 2025 on a straightforward idea: the hardest part of physical therapy should not be getting to it.

Ask anyone who has tried to finish a course of physical therapy while recovering from surgery, and you will usually hear the same story. The exercises were fine. The therapist was fine. Getting there twice a week is what fell apart.

Therapy in Motion exists to remove that step. We are a mobile outpatient physical therapy practice based in Coeur d'Alene, serving Kootenai County. A licensed physical therapist or physical therapist assistant travels to your home, brings what the session needs and works with you there. There is no clinic to visit, no waiting room and no parking lot to cross in January.

How it started

The model came out of Dr. Natasha Lee's training. During her Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Idaho State University, a mentor ran a home-based practice, and watching it work up close made an impression: patients did better on the practical things because the practical things were being addressed in the place they actually happened.

She and Janice Wright, PTA started Therapy in Motion in 2025. In August of that year, the Coeur d'Alene Press profiled the new practice and the gap it was built to fill — people who have difficulty getting to a clinic, and people who would simply rather be treated at home. The article also noted that the practice accepts referrals from area physicians.

What we mean by “outpatient at home”

This distinction trips people up, so it is worth spelling out. Home health is typically a Medicare benefit for patients who are considered homebound. An agency coordinates it, and the staff who come to the house — nurses, aides, therapists — rotate according to the agency's schedule.

Therapy in Motion is not that. This is outpatient physical therapy that happens to be delivered at your house. You do not need to be homebound to be seen. You are not limited to a short window after a hospital stay. And you work with the same two clinicians through your whole plan of care, which means nobody has to be caught up at the start of every visit.

Our mission

To help people move with more comfort, confidence and independence by delivering physical therapy directly to their homes — and to make that care genuinely reachable for people in North Idaho who have a hard time getting to a clinic, or who simply prefer the privacy of their own space.

How we work

What makes Therapy in Motion different

One patient at a time

Your appointment is not shared with two other people on nearby tables. The clinician who walks in is with you for the whole visit.

Treatment in your environment

The stairs you actually climb, the tub you actually step over, the chair you actually get out of. Therapy that only works in a clinic gym is not much use on a Tuesday morning at home.

Care that adapts

Some weeks are better than others. A plan built around real life leaves room for that instead of treating it as failure.

Less friction, more follow-through

The most effective plan of care is the one someone finishes. Removing the drive, the parking and the waiting room removes most of the reasons people quit.

So happy I found Therapy In Motion! Natasha and Janice have both provided excellent care. I have two herniated discs in my lower back and have been struggling with nerve pain and weakness throughout my lower body. I used to have to get steroid injections every other month just to be able to function at work and even then I was still in a ton of pain. After my third session of dry needling with Natasha the pain in my lower back is gone. We even started working on the tightness and pain in my hamstrings. I never thought my back would feel good enough to prioritize my legs. My experience with Therapy In Motion has truly been life changing.

I was in so much pain in my shoulder and neck area. Natasha did dry needling sessions on the area. After the first session it felt so much better. It took 3 more sessions and the pain was completely gone also I had full movement back in my neck and shoulder. Natasha is kind, gentle and is truly gifted at what she does.

I have difficulty with mobility due to my Parkinson. It's wonderful for me to have the therapy in my home. Janice and Natasha have been such great therapist. I also like the having therapy in my home rather than going to a clinic due to all the virus that go around during this time of year. I would recommend Therapy in Motion to anyone needing physical therapy.

I needed some dry needling and mobility work. The staff were friendly and professional. The best part was I never had to leave my house! So much easier than fighting traffic, looking for parking and spending an extra 40 minutes of my day. They took my insurance which was another major plus.

I went to Natasha and Janice after breaking my tailbone in a motorcycle accident. Together they came up with a plan that gave me quick improvement in pain and mobility. They were kind, thorough, and both had a great sense of humor! I'd recommend them to anyone!

Our clients work with this business and all I can say is - WOW! The staff are exceptional, kind, thoughtful, and communicative and have made such a difference in our client's lives. The day to day differences are incredible - my client's mobility has obviously improved, and with this his confidence and ability to enjoy life. Overall his quality of life is way better since working with this team and I can't say thanks enough.

I was referred here by a friend due to lumbar issues severely limiting my mobility. Mrs Lee was able to fit me into their schedule on short notice which was much appreciated. She was able to improve my range of motion dramatically through dry needling and electro therapy. I have gone through two sessions and plan to return for additional sessions for my condition and any guidance I need through the healing process. Highly recommend!

I can't say enough good things about Janice. When I broke my wrist she took care of me in a way that honestly made the whole situation way less stressful. She was so kind, patient, and really made me feel like I wasn't just another person she had to deal with. She checked in on me, made sure I understood everything, and went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable.
